"Without the breath, what is there? It's where you and I and everyone else began, it's where all life begins." - Wim Hof
Rebirthing Breathwork:
Known as the father of modern breathwork, Leonard Orr developed Rebirthing Breathwork in the 1970's, his lineage is continued by his wife Elvi Orr. The technique is a conscious-connected breath, merging a relaxed inhale and exhale. A transformative process to connect the mind, body and spirit. Pam discovered rebirthing breathwork via Rebirthing Breathwork Australia, she attended classes in Melbourne and experienced profound energetic, emotional and physical body shifts via 10 personal sessions. She completed her training as a Rebirthing Breathwork practitioner and shares this practice with individuals and groups. This powerful practice uncovers and reduces dysfunctional breathing patterns and as breathing patterns shift, so do emotions, stored energy, memories and imprints. It creates space to uncover self-limiting beliefs and process and release stored energy, emotions and trauma held within the body.
Pranayama (yogic breathwork techniques):
Breathing is fundamental to our health, wellbeing and vitality. It is the fastest and most effective way to create change within the nervous system. Pam is trained in beginners and advanced pranayama yogic breathing techniques, using a krama (progressions) approach. Just like with yoga asana, we can't just fast forward to the advanced level, we must first train in, strengthen and become comfortable with the basics before progressing to more advanced techniques, this supports a more regulated nervous system, increased vitality and life source energy. Pam was lucky enough to complete her yoga teacher training with yogi's who specialised in pranayama and she has continued her practice with advanced Iyengar pranayama teachers.
Some of Pam's favourite breathing techniques are:
33, 22, 11 through the nose and then the mouth (rebirthing)
20 conscious-connected breaths
Bhastrika followed by bahya kumbhaka (external breath retention) with maha bandha (three energy locks)
Anuloma Viloma
Brahmari
Ujjayi
Kapalabhati
Wim Hof technique
